Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Science4Life concept phase academy days had to be conducted virtually – a first-time experience for all involved. Nevertheless, thanks to the great effort of the organizing team, we had two informative days. After being awarded during the first phase of this years Science4Life venture cup in November, our SURAG-concept was once again awarded by the jury.
For the second phase of the Science4Life Venture Cup we had to submit a ten-page concept including information about our business idea, business model and system, partnerships, team as well as a market analysis. After five reviewers from different professional backgrounds evaluated our submission, we have been invited to the Science4Life academy days in Berlin, which were initially scheduled for the 16th and 17th of March.
However, this event had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and was moved to a virtual meeting room. On Monday afternoon, we participated in three interesting workshops about venture capital financing, patent law and intellectual property rights, where experts from the respective area shared their experiences with start-ups and answered all our questions comprehensively.
On Tuesday morning, we had a three-hour meeting with a coach from a well-known life science company, who gave us a lot of helpful hints and things to think about. He also offered us that we may consult him, if we have questions in the future.
The coaching was followed by the award ceremony, where each of the winning teams also did a one-minute “pitch” to the audience. We are extremely happy that SURAG got awarded as one of the best 10 concepts in the Science4Life e.V. Venture Cup 2020. A big shout-out to the great organizing team, who enabled us to have a great event even despite of these difficult conditions. We are looking forward to submit the business plan in the final stage of the competition.
